About the Course
The Medical Billing and Coding Program at Middle Georgia Career Institute is a structured, four-month training program delivered 100% online. It is designed to help students build the knowledge and practical skills needed to pursue a career in medical coding; all from the convenience of home.
Students receive live virtual instruction covering medical terminology, anatomy, ICD-10-CM, CPT®, HCPCS Level II, coding guidelines, healthcare reimbursement, and medical billing concepts. The course also includes practical coding exercises, real-world medical documentation, assessments, and CPC® exam-preparation strategies.
This program is ideal for students who benefit from instructor guidance, scheduled learning, accountability, and the opportunity to ask questions during live online classes. No previous medical coding or healthcare experience is required.
Throughout the program, students learn how to navigate their coding books, identify essential information in medical records, apply official coding guidelines, select accurate codes, and approach certification-style questions with greater confidence.
By the end of the course, students will have strengthened their medical coding foundation, practiced applying codes to realistic scenarios, and developed strategies to help prepare for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) examination.

Jasmine
Jasmine Tharpe is the Founder and Lead Instructor of Middle Georgia Career Institute. She brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience and over 15 years of medical coding experience to the classroom.
As a Certified Professional Coder and AAPC Approved Instructor, Jasmine has experience in professional-fee coding across multiple specialties, including pain management, spine, anesthesia, family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, general surgery, and OB/GYN.
Her teaching approach goes beyond memorizing codes. Jasmine helps students understand how to navigate their coding books, apply official coding guidelines, analyze real-world medical documentation, and develop an effective strategy for the CPC exam.
She founded Middle Georgia Career Institute to provide students with structured instruction, practical support, and the confidence needed to pursue a career in medical billing and coding. Jasmine’s professional and entrepreneurial journey has also been feat in Voyage ATL magazine.
